Our Mission: The Saskatoon Kennel and Obedience Club will serve its membership and the community at large by giving support, understanding, help and guidance in all their canine-related endeavors.

The Saskatoon Kennel and Obedience Club (SKOC) Inc. is a family-oriented, non-profit, all-breeds dog club that operates in the city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The SKOC promotes the betterment and welfare of purebred dogs by encouraging responsible breeding and ownership, and good sportsmanship. The SKOC is a non-profit organization offering shows, trials, and classes to help with dog ownership and long-term dog welfare.

We host Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) approved Obedience trials each winter and CKC-approved All Breed Championship dog shows, Obedience trials, and Rally Obedience trials each September, and Rally Obedience trials each March. We also hold occasional Obedience and Conformation matches throughout the year. These matches are an excellent practice opportunity for members to show and trial their dogs and to teach and learn proper ring-stewarding procedures for future shows and trials.

We teach Obedience, Rally Obedience, and Conformation classes at our training facility. We accept all breeds of dogs in our obedience training, including both CKC registered and unregistered mixed-breed dogs.

All of our events and training are organized by our volunteer club members and funded by registration fees. The activities of the SKOC are completed entirely by volunteer members. The SKOC is a non-profit registered with the province of Saskatchewan. Read our Constitution and Bylaws

In addition to hosting shows, trials, matches, teaching classes, and maintaining responsibilities of the Board of Directors,  our volunteers practice and train together. Consider joining the SKOC as a member and join our dynamic club!

Established 60 years ago, the SKOC gained accreditation with the CKC on May 12,
1963, for the purpose of promoting purebred dogs.

The SKOC's founding members were Joan Wiik (Shetland Sheepdog), Ale and Pat Randall (American Cocker Spaniel), Lorraine Whitehead (Pomeranian), Marilyn Taylor (Shetland Sheepdog), Margaret Stevenson (Pembroke Welsh Corgi), and Ruby and Greg McGregor (Elkhounds).

Obedience classes were first offered in April, 1963, and the club's first Conformation and Obedience matches were held two months later. The SKOC's first All-Breed Championship Show and Obedience trials were held on September 19th & 20th, 1964, at the Kinsmen Arena. Classes were first held at the Stock Pavilion at the University of Saskatchewan, as well as outdoors.

The club operated in the Eastview Shopping Centre from 1981 to September 2023.
